Asbestos Floor Tile Removal

Safe, fully compliant removal of asbestos floor tiles and black bitumen adhesive across Berkshire, Surrey & Hampshire. Free quotes from photos.

Asbestos Floor Tile Removal You Can Trust

Vinyl and thermoplastic floor tiles laid between the 1950s and 1980s, and the black adhesive used to stick them down, often contain asbestos. If you are planning to replace a kitchen, hallway or bathroom floor, or you have found old tiles under carpet or laminate, they should be tested or removed safely before any work starts.

Our UKATA-trained team lifts the tiles whole wherever possible, keeps them damp to control dust and removes the old bitumen adhesive by hand, never by sanding or grinding. All waste is double-bagged and taken to an approved facility, and you receive a hazardous waste consignment note for your records. Not sure what you have? Our asbestos testing service can confirm it first.

Asbestos Floor Tiles and Adhesive, Removed Safely

Asbestos was added to many floor tiles, sheet flooring and adhesives to make them harder wearing. These are the floor materials we remove most often in homes, rentals, schools and commercial buildings.

Vinyl & Thermoplastic Tiles

The classic 9-inch square tiles found in kitchens, halls and utility rooms. Lifted whole wherever possible to keep fibres locked in.

Black Bitumen Adhesive

The black glue under old tiles can contain asbestos too. We remove it by hand so the floor is ready for new flooring.

Vinyl Sheet Flooring

Older cushioned vinyl and sheet flooring with an asbestos paper backing, cut and rolled carefully to avoid damage.

Is It Safe to Live With Asbestos Floor Tiles?

Asbestos floor tiles that are intact and sealed are generally low risk, because the fibres are locked into the tile. The risk comes when they are broken, sanded, drilled or scraped, which can release fibres into the air. Never sand, grind or power-scrape old tiles or the black adhesive underneath.

If you are renovating, replacing flooring or the tiles are cracked and lifting, have them tested or removed by a trained team first. We can also collect asbestos waste if tiles have already been lifted.
